I created work about the repetitive rhythms and small rituals of everyday domestic life using familiar brown paper lunch bags. Mass-produced, the bags are personalized with logos, numbers, recycling symbols and even the names of the factory workers. They show evidence of their functional former lives: containers for lunch, hardware, coffee and bagel. Although paper bags imply a modular sameness, in these works I aimed to reveal subtle idiosyncrasies within a structured format.
